Greetings, my fellow travelers on this glorious journey,
I’ve told you a couple of times that I have been reading a book by Andrew Murray called the Holiest of All. I am still reading it. It is super big and super rich. You can’t read too much at once. I think I may finish it by the end of the year. LOL It is really just so good. Anyway, that book talks so much about what Jesus accomplished for us. It goes into the very minute details to help us understand just what He has done, what He has made possible, the riches that have become ours. I love it.
All that to say, I find Andrew Murray is not alone in his desire for us to know what God’s intention is in our lives, and to know God’s ability to bring His intention about. I was reading something or watching something or listening to something yesterday, I don’t even know what, but whatever it was mentioned this verse in Ephesians:
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
I thought, wow! That is just so cool. God setting His path before us just so we could walk in it. And I thought, I should check out Ephesians. So I read Ephesians 1, words that I have read many times in my youth. But now it’s different. Everything is different to me now. The words that I would skim over previously, looking for the really juicy verses, have come to life and it’s like I’m really seeing them for the first time.
Here’s Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
In my youth, I would have read those very words , “Blessed be God, yada yada yada.” Seriously.
But now, seeing them with new eyes, I realize they are talking about God giving us glorious blessings in the Holiest place of all, in His very presence, even as we walk on this earth. Whaaaat? Yes! And that tied into that book I’m reading, The Holiest of All. This is what that verse is talking about.
So, I’m thinking, I’ll read more to see where it takes me.
I continued with chapter one, and it concludes with Paul’s prayer for the recipients of the letter. Once again, it is like I am really seeing it for the first time. Paul’s prayer for them, and my prayer for you and for myself, is the following:
I…Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, (us) 23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Paul wanted them to understand the God to Whom they belonged. I want to understand. I want you to understand.
I want all of us to understand the exceeding power that He has to work in our lives. There is never a reason to doubt or fear. The God Who has us is not just capable, He is more than, more than capable and He loves us with an unyielding, unbending, unconditional, colossal LOVE!!!
God is not waiting for us to be perfect. God is not even waiting for us to be good. God sees us right now and He sees the goodness of His Son. Jesus took care of all of that business.
So, beloved, I pray that you would know. That you would understand. That you would let the good news of His glorious work infiltrate every part of your life. That you would rest in His working. I pray this for myself, as well.
Each and every one of us truly couldn’t be in a better place.
I love you all.
Amy
