For such a time as this

Lately I have been thinking of two things more than other stuff.

Number 1.

I need to stop waiting for something.  This is the only day I have.   These times are exciting in the world.  They might seem dark and threatening, but if I see them for what they are, God’s glorious hand at work, then I can see correctly, that this is totally a super exciting time to be alive, in God, in this place.

In Esther 4, Mordecai says this to Esther:

14For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

15Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

16Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

“If I perish, I perish”.  I love that.  “Thou He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

And Joseph tells his brothers, who had, years previously, sold him into slavery “ 20 As for you, what you intended against me for evil, God intended for good, in order to accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people. 21 Therefore do not be afraid.”

We can see all the crap going on around us,  in the world, the country, or in our personal lives.   But if we see it all correctly, we will see God at work, in every detail.  God is not concerned.  So we shouldn’t be either.  And as Mordecai says, and I say too, Who knows whether we are here, in this place, for such a time as this?    Today is the only day we have.  Yesterday is behind us.  His mercies are new, this morning, and every morning.  It is all very exciting!

Number 2:

The second thing that’s been on my heart so much is seeing God in those around me.   In the strangers I don’t know.  All of a sudden, they aren’t strangers anymore.  God is in them.  I feel honored, glad to be around them.  I’m not rushing up for an autograph or anything.  LOL   It’s just a sense of being glad to be near these people that are God’s.   I don’t see it all the time.  Only when I think about it.  But it has been very cool.  And it brought this Joan Osborne song to mind.          I’ll leave you with that.   This is a link to the music video (which is really cool) and the lyrics are below.
